If you have questions not answered here,
about events in my studio or anywhere else,
the best way to reach me is via email to
convergentseries "at" gmail "dot" com |
To register for a single workshop, or for an entire series,
please send a check for the registration fee,
along with your
name,
address,
phone number(s),
email address(es) and
the date(s) of the session(s) you want, to my mailing address:
C Scheftic
PO Box 82615
Pittsburgh, PA 15218-0615
(or, just stop by if you see the lights on in my studio ... over the front door at WSCC!)
|
The classroom address for all of my studio sessions is:
Wilkins School Community Center
7604 Charleston Avenue
Swissvale, PA 15218-1265
Meet in room #25, over the front door.
Materials fees will be payable in class, by cash or check.
This building is just off Braddock Avenue in Regent Square, a few blocks north of the Edgewood/Swissvale exit (#77) from the Parkway East (I-376). But it's on a one-way street. Turn west at Sanders (closest) or Hutchinson (which has a light); if you've just come fram the Parkway, that'll be a left turn. Then left onto Milton, and left onto Charleston. (Or you may just want to park on Milton.) Take the stairs up to the second floor. (There's no elevator.)
|
Registration requests will be acknowledged via email (or phone, if email is not a possibility).
The acknowledgement will include a phone number you can use in case of any last-minute delays.
|
The Fine Print
Registration requests need to be received ten days before the class date to guarantee a place
(so I have enough time to order the necessary materials for you!).
Later requests will be accepted IF I happen to have enough material on hand for you
(or you are willing to pay for overnight shipping if I don't...).
So do feel free to ask, even at the last minute....
Class sizes: minimum is 3, maximum is 8, typical is 4 or 5.
I will run a session for 1 or 2, but the price / person will be a bit higher.
If more than 8 wish to register, acceptance will be in the order that checks were received.
I will try to accommodate others in a separate session; if we can't make that work, I'll refund your payment in full.
If you find you cannot attend a session for which you have registered:
if I know over ten days before the event: I will issue a full refund minus a $2 handling fee;
2 to 9 days before the event: same as above IF I can replace you with someone from a waiting list; otherwise,
I can issue a partial refund (50% by check, or apply 75% to the cost of another class within 6 months, as you prefer).
Registration fees are NOT refundable with less than 24 hours notice.
Of course, if I have to cancel a class for any reason, I will issue you a full refund (or, if you prefer, credit towards an upcoming class).

Pre-scheduled Workshops
Late Summer - Fall 2014
August 1: This part of my schedule is now being developed!
I know some items, but will wait until I know most dates before I start posting (in case anything has to change).
And, my apologies, but I'm unlikely to finish sorting this out until late September, with classes set for October & November.
Why? Among other reasons, I'll be spending lots of time working at or on behalf of the urban Edible Teaching Garden.
(Our Field Day Celebration (free & open to the public!) will be held on September 13, 2014, from 12 Noon to 2 pm.)
Can't wait that long? Just let me know what YOU want to learn!
Winter-Spring 2014
|
Beginners are welcome at all fine silver sessions except the one marked (*).
(For that one, you have to bring a fired fine-silver piece to which you'll add your stone(s) ...
although it's fine even if that's the only piece you've ever made!)
Those with some prior experience will be able to practice some more and learn new techniques with each project.

The base-metal workshops (copper-bronze-steel) are being offered as a series. That is, both beginners and those with some experience are welcome to start it from the beginning. (We'll do most of the making in the first few sessions, and will focus on finishing those in the later ones.

Additional Workshops in My Studio

|
Or ... Pick YOUR Date!
Often when I schedule workshops, people say,
"I'd like to take that one, but can't make it on that date..."
So here's another option: you pick the date!
Because the schedule at my studio can be fairly flexible, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn!
I'm always happy to schedule a private lesson (just you) or semi-private session (you and a friend or two) or a whole new class.
Or. once I have several people interested in a particular project or technique, we can sort out a date and time that will work for all!

Want to learn something else?
Want to learn something sooner?
|
I also offer lessons "by request"!
Is there another project you'd like to make?
Is there another time you'd like to meet?
Is there an embellishment you'd like to add to an existing piece?
Let me know!
I'll be happy to schedule something that meets your needs,
or to let you know about any last-minute openings in relevant sessions.
Other possibilities include, but are not limited to:
bronze bells, miniature boxes, toggle clasps (and other jewelry "findings"), custom rings,
bracelets, belt buckles, napkin rings, and more!
Let me know what interests you, and what times you're available. We should be able to work something out!
